As any collector of Disney memorabilia knows, the subject is virtually endless. The tens, if not hundreds-of-thousands of Disney items available make specialization to some degree a necessity. This collection is no different. An Early, rare and obscure Disney were all favorites of this collector. We are confident that even advanced and veteran collectors will find items they have never seen before. But this sale truly has something for everyone, and prices are sure to range from less than $100 for some pieces to many thousands of dollars for others. Collectors are sure to be impressed with the overall quality of the items in this auction... from Scarce Movie Posters to Mint-in-Box Toys to High-Grade Comics, this is a sale of outstanding quality and scope.
Choosing a few highlights has been a difficult task... there are simply too many wonderful items. I think, however, that many collectors will find the following pieces of particular interest.
A 1930s Rambling Mickey celluloid figure in the original box is offered in outstanding working condition, as is the trio of 1950s tin Line-Mar musical figures of Mickey, Donald and Pluto in their original and very scarce large box. A rare 1937 Fisher-Price trotting Donald Duck pull toy is sure to attract attention across a variety of collecting fields. A fantastic early Mickey Mouse German penny toy, pull the string and Mickey tips his hat and an exceptionally high-grade Donald Duck and Pluto Lionel rail car in its original box are a few of the more choice items that should attract active bidding.
This auction is what comic collectors dream about... there are over 40 high grade Big Little Books and almost 300 lots of desirable comics, many in exceptional condition. A March of Comics #20 with cover art of Donald Duck drawn by the great Walt Kelly (creator of Pogo) and inside a 22-page story by Carl Barks, make this a sought-after item whenever offered. Add to the fact that this promotional comic grades an incredible CGC 9.6 (next highest grade recorded is an 8.0)! and you have one of the outstanding pieces in this auction. 1935 saw the first issue of Mickey Mouse Magazine, and copies signed by editor Hal Horne were given away with early subscriptions... this is one of those copies. Carl Barks story Frozen Gold is the subject of Four Color #62 and a beautiful CGC 9.0 (tied for highest grade) copy is offered. There are lots of other great comics... just too many to mention.
Movie material includes an original release Bambi 6-sheet, a 1-sheet for the Donald Duck cartoon, Inferior Decorator, and a great wartime original-release press book for Victory Through Air Power. There are also hundreds of wonderful linen backed Key Book 8x10 still photos. Pressbooks from many of the Disney Features and shorts, complete sets of lobby cards and lots of large format posters.
There are just under 1,000 vintage Disney items. All are now open for bidding on our website www.justkidsnostalgia.com .
There is also a Full Color Catalog (great reference) available for only $15. We are taking phone, mail and Internet bids until March 29th.
