Mickey, Donald, Goofy and pals were the center of attention last week... but this time the action was not in Anaheim or Orlando, but Huntington, NY! Almost 1000 lots of vintage Disney items were sold at auction by well-known Long Island collectibles firm, Just Kids Nostalgia, as hundreds of bidders from around the world competed for rare Disney comics, toys, games, photo and movie memorabilia. Active bidding at the phone, mail and internet auction went on all night, finally concluding as the sun came up around 6 am. The excitement generated for this sale was in large part due to the amazing material offered. A single-owner collection, assembled over almost 50 years, many items had not been offered in the marketplace for a long time.

Fantasia Vernon Kilns Vase-$1371, Mickey Mouse Magazine News Stand Sign-$2028, Silly Symphony Big Little Book-$542. 1930s Disney Postcards brought between $50 to $100 each and 8" x 10" Disney photos sold for as high as $130 each. Just Kids Nostalgia owner, Ken Farrell, has been selling comic character memorabilia, movie material and toys for the past 28 years. In the past 5 years his firm has specialized in offering single-subject collections such as Howdy Doody, Our Gang, Pogo, Elvis, Lone Ranger, and Hopalong Cassidy. "When we get behind a single subject collection, the combination of our extensive mailing list and targeted promotion always makes for a successful auction," said Farrell.
