ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Randy Inman Auctions will present a 1,200-lot auction Nov. 19-20, 2004, in Allentown, with an inventory
which contains material from several private collections
that includes toys, antique advertising, coin ops, gambling devices, penny arcade and vintage carnival machines and figures.
Topping the Griffith robot group is a circa 1955 Mego Man tinplate Japanese robot believed to be the only known example of its type is one of the headliners in Randy Inman Auctions' 1,200-lot toy sale on 19-20 November. The 10in mystery-action battery-operated robot - known as Mego Man - is one of 70 toys consigned from the estate of F.H. "Griff" Griffith, a legendary American collector who passed away in 1999. The Mego Man Robot is profusely lithographed in an array of colours, with a complicated overall pattern that suggests considerable thought went into the design -- yet the toy's manufacturer is unknown. According to Inman, the robot could fetch between US$25,000-35,000.
